Over the weekend, I got an email from a reader asking my advice! Leslie is a teacher in Chile who realized that she needs a style refresh when she was being confused for a student. She’s making a trip to the US next month and wanted to know what I would recommend to build the foundation of a more grownup, professional wardrobe. Leslie’s not a fan of button downs or high heels, but that’s okay. There are plenty of versatile pieces that allow for creativity and look professional, but are still fun. Here are 6 things that should be staples of any work wardrobe:
1. Blazer: LOFT, 2. Flats: Nine West, 3. Wrap Dress: Banana Republic, 4. A-line Skirt: Banana Republic, 5. Tote: Big Buddha via Nordstrom, 6. Jeans: Ann Taylor
Thanks to Leslie for the fantastic question! If you have a question, feel free to send me an email! And, remember to like Le Petite Pear on Facebook and enter to win some Vaseline goodness for your skin.
Excellent post – thanks for the advice! Love the dress
That dress is so gorgeous, right?! Hoping it goes on sale!
Great post! I’m in love with that tote!! It’s gorgeous!!

Thanks lady! Isn’t it cute?! It kind of reminds me of a little of a chic bowling bag
Great colors for Spring too!
Thank you for your guidance and inspiration! I really appreciate your tips. I actually went out and bought a blazer this afternoon (from Zara here in Chile, pretty similar to the one in your picture) and looked at totes that could fit my laptop and a notebook. I have a few wrap dresses that are pretty similar to the one you’ve shown, and I can look for new ways to match them with the rest of my wardrobe to avoid being mistaken for a student at the universities where I teach!
Fantastic! I’m so glad my advice was helpful! Thank you so much for sending the question!
