I’m so grateful that Lauren has been willing to come up to my neighborhood for photoshoots over the last year or so. It’s easier for me to stay closer to home, and I get to show off the Upper East Side! Rob and I have lived here for more than a decade now, and we love that it’s so vibrant without being as busy as other parts of the city. For this shoot, we ended up in the 70s and 80s closer to Central Park, starting at The Mark Hotel. It was a chilly day, but I was warm enough in this cute outfit. And, let me tell you why I love matching sets like this one.
Obviously, it’s great to wear a set together as it’s intended. But, you also have two pieces you can wear a bunch of ways as separates. I can see this top with jeans and sneakers, and the skirt with a colorful sweater and tall boots. Wearing them together, I decided to keep things fairly simple. But, I did add my favorite pair of leopard print booties. Also, shout out to this faux fur coat that always makes me feel fabulous! Speaking of fab, scroll down to check out the vintage car we found down the block from The Mark. So fun!
Things have felt a little heavy lately, and getting all dolled up for this shoot was a nice change. It made me think about how I can incorporate more small joys into my everyday. I’m also still figuring out how being a mom fits into who I am as a person. It’s a really big part of my identity, but it’s not everything…I just need to figure out how to make space (and time) for everything that’s important to me. Probably more on this later, but it’s been on my mind, so I figured I would share. Sending extra love to everyone right now. We could all use it!
