I have been searching for the perfect maxi dress for months. When you’re petite, long dresses and skirts can be a challenge. You don’t want to look like you’re drowning in fabric, and you need to make sure the hemline isn’t hazardous. As someone who is most often wearing flats, I didn’t want to depend on heels or wedges to keep the dress off the floor.These stipulations were enough, but I had to add one more. As a pear, I wanted to find a dress that accentuated my curves in the right way, instead of clinging to every bump and lump. I can’t even tell you how many maxis I tried on, but I finally found this one at Marshall’s. I love the color, and the subtle metallic stripes. There’s a partial lining, but it’s still comfortable and lightweight, and gotta love the elasticized waistband.
This search reminded me just how important it is to be persistent and know what you want. Sometimes it’s going to take you a while to find exactly what you’re looking for in a particular garment. It can be frustrating, but when you finally find it, it will be worth the wait. Let this outfit also serve as proof that even if something is challenging for your body type, it doesn’t mean you can’t wear it.
