Now that we’ve flipped the calendar to March, the end of winter is in sight! When I asked what people needed help shopping for right now, one of the answers was spring jackets. There are a lot of options, but I think you only need a few versatile staples: a denim jacket, a trench coat, and a lighter weight casual jacket.
My denim jackets are by far my most-worn. I have them in dark wash, light wash, and white. Denim goes with everything, and it’s the perfect weight for in-between temperatures. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you know that this cute ruffled option is on my list. Whatever style or wash you choose, you definitely need at least one.
A trench coat is great for dressing up and down. You want a neutral color, long enough to cover your butt. Ideally it would be water resistant or waterproof, and I recommend looking for a belted waist for the most flattering silhouette. A bold color or pattern can be fun too if you’re more adventurous (or you’re buying two!)
Next, look for a lightweight utility jacket or anorak. This is where you can have a little fun with color if you want. Many of these have hoods, interesting details, or cinched waists. You can decide whether short or longer makes sense for your wardrobe and body type. I suggest trying both to figure out what feels and looks the best.
