Staying fashion forward can get overwhelming! There are so many beautiful pieces on runways and racks at any given time, and it’s hard to find the ones that are worthy of your closet. Most of us have a certain “style” that we subscribe to, favorite colors, patterns, and fabrics, and we know what looks good on us. That being said, it can be a challenge to figure out which trends to embrace and which ones to we could do without. Our wishlists grow longer and longer, but there’s no clear focus.
Here’s my advice: create a Pinterest board for every season, and use it to collect outfit inspiration. Follow brands and bloggers you like, and keep tabs on what they’re pinning. This board will end up being incredibly useful for figuring out what you like and what you need. My Fall + Winter Fashion Inspiration board tells me several things about my style:
- My love for polka dots is intense.
- Black is my go-to neutral.
- I love the layered look.
- Pops of color are key.
- Incorporating patterns is essential.
These are all things I knew about myself and my tastes, but I can use them to step outside the box and be more adventurous, which is one of my style goals for this year. Although I love polka dots, I want to try other patterns. I also need to experiment more with brown, navy, nude and gray as neutrals, and I want to take more risks with color. I use this board as reference when I go shopping, along with my digital wishlist board called Currently Coveting. The Notes app on iPhone is also helpful for keeping track of trends you want to try or certain pieces your closet is lacking.
How do you keep track of inspiration, outfit ideas and wishlist items? Have you pin-pointed your style?
