As I mentioned in Friday’s post, I enter a lot of contests and giveaways…and sometimes I win! Last year, I entered a giveaway on HollywoodLife.com and was lucky to be chosen as the winner. My prizes included a gorgeous clutch from Judith Leiber’s Overture Collection, and a night out on the town in Manhattan. The night began with dinner at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse. Hubby and I enjoyed drinks and a three course menu. Here’s what we ordered:
In a surprise to no one, my favorite part was dessert. I got this Chocolate Truffle Cake that was ah-mazing!
Next, we headed to the Helen Hayes Theater to see Rock of Ages. Our seats were in the 7th row, and the show was fantastic! We’re big fans of 80s music, so we thoroughly enjoyed rocking out and singing along. Not only was every member of the cast incredibly talented, but the show was unexpectedly funny too. An added bonus: a full bar that included jello shots!
Since I knew we were going to a rock n’ roll themed show, I wanted to wear an outfit with a little edge. It had to be something fun that would compliment the snakeskin clutch. So, I repurposed the dress I wore to the Bar Mitzvah in Dallas, making it more casual with a button down tied at the waist, and adding tights and boots. Although we didn’t have time to take pictures until after the show, the lights of Times Square made it almost like daylight. Thanks to hubby for being a great date and obliging me with a brief photo shoot in the persistent rain.
