On Friday night, my husband and I escaped the city for a very special date night. We met ten summers ago as counselors at an overnight camp in the Berkshires, and although we haven’t celebrated our “dating anniversary” since we got married, we figured a decade together was a worthwhile milestone to recognize. I’m a pretty sentimental person, so the first idea that came into my mind was having our ten year date at the same place we had our first one: Friendly’s. I started researching locations and found a few within 40 minutes of Manhattan. Since we don’t have a car, I reached out to Friendly’s on Twitter to see if any of their restaurants are train accessible. It turns out that they’re really not, so I said thank you and that we wouldn’t be able to make it without a car. The next thing I know, Friendly’s did this:
Hey @Zipcar can you help our friend @sameve commemorate her first date 10 years ago? Dinner & dessert is on us if you can get them there! 🚗💨

By the end of Wednesday, it was set. Zipcar was rushing approval of our membership and giving us a driving credit, and Friendly’s HQ had put a gift card in the mail! The power of social media and a perfect example of customer appreciation. My husband has been working 80 hour weeks lately, so we haven’t seen much of each other. The opportunity to get away for a few hours and celebrate together in such a meaningful way was truly priceless, and I’m so incredibly grateful for the generosity of these two brands! It was a fun, relaxed night, so I wore a colorful flamingo print dress and whimsical ice cream cone earrings. The dress is super flattering and comfortable for a car ride, and I can never say no to bows!
