A New Year

Walking into a new year

Happy New Year! I took a little time off from blog posts, but I’m happy to be back! I have mixed feelings about things like New Year’s resolutions. I like having goals, but I feel like we often put too much pressure on ourselves at times like these. That said, I do believe that a new year is a great time to reflect on the year that was and think about what’s next.

Last year was a lot. I started 2022 in tears, experiencing the first NYE without our best friends in many years. They moved to Dallas shortly after Seth was born, which was really hard. Several more close friends also moved away from NYC in the past couple of years, and it hasn’t been the same without them. Having a baby/toddler also makes it more challenging to make plans, so we didn’t see other friends as much as we would have liked. I spent a lot of time feeling lonely, and dealing with increased anxiety and a little bit of depression. Things got better as the year went along, and I finally started telling my friends what I was going through. It’s easy to feel like a burden when you’re struggling, like your broken or damaged. But you are worthy of love and support.

Another big part of last year was deciding to quit my full-time job. The decision was largely related to my mental health, and it was ultimately the right one for me. That said, it’s been an adjustment. I had to figure out the best rhythm for my days, and I struggled with feeling like I got “enough” done. But, I really appreciate the flexibility, and it was great to spend the summer exploring the city. Most importantly, I have more energy to devote to Seth. He is truly the light of my life, and watching him grow is the greatest blessing. I’ve also been able to attend more events and work with some amazing brands. The weirdest thing that happened was this reel about a children’s book going viral, but I’ll take it! I’m so grateful for these opportunities, and can’t wait to see what this year brings.

In the year to come, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow this community. I love helping people feel good in what they wear, and sharing an honest look at motherhood and life in NYC. There are also a couple of things that I’m doing for myself that I’m very excited about. I’m taking an on-demand certificate course through FIT, an absolute dream. And, in an effort to be more organized and better manage my life and my anxiety, I subscribed to Silk and Sonder. More on both of these soon.

We closed out 2022 with quality time with some of our close friends, and several more are coming to visit this month. I’m also very excited that we have some travel on the calendar! We’re going to Mexico in February, and I CANNOT wait to be on the beach.

Thank you so much for being here. I truly appreciate every blog post you read, every follow, like, and share. If there’s something you want to see more of in 2023, please comment on this post, email me or send me a DM. And now a few more photos of this subtly sparkly outfit!
