In October, I had the opportunity to attend a women’s health panel with CooperSurgical®. They are a women’s health and fertility company focused on improving the lives of women, babies, and families everywhere. For over 30 years, CooperSurgical® has been working on discovering faster, more effective solutions that can help relieve the pressures of time and create a world where people get the care they need, when they need it. The company’s goal is to accelerate every possibility available to physicians, patients, and their families in three key areas: Reproductive Care, Fertility + Birth, and Women’s Care.
The panel was moderated by Andrea Syrtash, founder of pregnantish, and featured experts in the space, including Holly Sheffield, President of CooperSurgical, Dr. Jaime Shamonki, Dr. Lucky Seckhon, Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers and Dr. Vrunda Desai. The doctors talked about topics like contraception, fertility, genetic testing, the path to parenthood, and incontinence. The reason they invited influencers to this panel was for us to learn, but also to help normalize the conversation around women’s health issues. They mentioned a few different CooperSurgical products, but their overarching goal is to empower women to go to their doctors, ask questions and advocate for themselves.
One thing I didn’t realize is how many women deal with things like fibroids and incontinence. AND that they can be treated without surgery. You can get treatment at your doctor’s office, which means easier access to care, and takes some of the load off of the hospitals.
I hate to say it, but I don’t think I truly appreciated my body until I was pregnant. I can definitely say that it’s so important to be your own advocate. Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need to. Talk to your mom, your friends, whoever you feel comfortable with, about your health. Make sure everyone is taking care of themselves!
