A-line skirts are a summer essential for pear-shaped women…and all women really. The A-line gets its name from the way it starts at the waist, our smallest area, and then falls at an angle around the hips and thighs, like the letter A.
An A-line skirt should hit right above or at the knees, but you can go a little shorter. Many are made of light, airy fabric, which is great for the warm months. Just be careful that there isn’t too much volume because this will only make you look bottom-heavy. You want the look of a defined waist, without feeling like your curves are suffocating in something too tight, or drowning in too much fabric. If you need a little extra definition at the waist, look for skirts with a banded hem or an accented waistband. You can also tuck in your shirt and add a belt.
