We spent all day Saturday at Belmont Park for a day of horse races, gambling, eating and drinking…all culminating in the Belmont Stakes. My husband’s best friend from high school and his family go almost every year, and we’ve been fortunate to join them several times. I’ve always wanted to go all out and wear a big hat or a fascinator, Derby style, but in the past, the Belmont crowd hasn’t been that into race day style. This year was totally different, with preppy outfits and elaborate headpieces galore. People-watching heaven! My look was a little more subtle: an off the shoulder blue and white striped dress with sandals and a straw fedora.
My friend Emily wore this same dress recently, and mentioned the very important fact that it’s kind of see-through. I took her advice and wore a slip underneath, and I was really happy about that decision when it started to rain at the end of the day! Thanks, Em!

Thanks girl!! Yeah, I totally don’t understand the sheer thing, but thank goodness for a good slip! Maybe we should twin on purpose sometime 🙂 xx
