While I’ve definitely had some fun shopping for maternity dresses, I’ve also tried not to buy too many of them. I’ve found that I can order a size up from my regular size (or sometimes even my regular size) and still have room for the bump. The hope is that I can also wear these non-maternity dresses after baby arrives. But, I couldn’t resist the preppy details of this dress when I saw it on TJMaxx’s website, and I knew I would appreciate the lightweight cotton on a hot day. I actually featured this dress as part of a style series with some other creators in April. It fits a lot more snugly now!
Speaking of, I’m now in between 35 and 36 weeks pregnant. In some ways, I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever. But in others, it feels like it flew by. It’s pretty likely that baby boy will join us in the next month, which is so crazy. People have been asking me how I’m feeling, and I always think about whether they actually want an honest answer. It’s tempting to say something like “pretty good,” or “the baby’s healthy and that’s all that matters.” But, the truth is that my body aches constantly and I’m absolutely exhausted on a level I didn’t know existed.
Emotionally, I’m all over the place. I’m very proud of myself for getting my gestational diabetes under control (with the help of insulin). But, it’s still really hard, and I’m not finding any joy in food, which sucks. As I’ve said throughout, pregnancy is beautiful and I’m grateful to be in a place many women can only dream of…but it’s also challenging.
I’m very much looking forward to a little staycation this weekend. We’re spending a night at a hotel in the city with a pool, and I CAN’T WAIT to feel weightless for a little while. We’re also going out to a nice dinner for probably the last time pre-baby, so that will be fun too! Hope you have a great long weekend!
