Last Saturday night’s California Bat Mitzvah party was at a beautiful venue on Lake Merritt in Oakland. The weather finally cleared up by the time we got there, and we were able to take advantage of the gondola rides on the water. I went to Venice on a teen tour in high school, but it rained the day we were supposed to go on our gondola ride, so I’d actually never been on one. It was a fun experience and reminded me that I definitely need to get back to Italy!
For my party outfit, I went with a polka dot crop top and a pleated pink skirt. The top was a sample sale find from last year that I hadn’t had a chance to wear yet. Although I wear a lot of stripes, polka dots are actually my favorite pattern, and I can never resist black & white. Wearing a crop top with a high waisted skirt is a great way to take advantage of the trend while still being modest. I love how the sheer panel of this top looks over the blush pink of the skirt…it almost looks like I’m showing a little skin!
