Petite-Friendly Pants

When you’re on the shorter side, it can be hard to find pants that don’t drown your ankles or require a lot of tailoring. Fortunately, there are a number of stores and brands that make lines catered to petites. My favorite is LOFT. The majority of their pieces, including pants, are available in petite sizesMacy’s has a decent selection too, although some of their less expensive lines can be a little matronly.

For jeans, I’ve also found that certain brands make it easier by offering different lengths. These aren’t always available in store, but once you figure out which brands fit you the best, and what length works for you, shopping online can be easier. Old Navy’s “short” sizes often work for me, but my favorite denim brand is probably Mavi. Their jeans are high quality and flattering, although they tend to be a bit pricey.  I’ve also heard good things about ASOS’ petite selection. Another tip, although it may sound silly: sometimes I buy my jeans in the juniors department. If you can figure out what size fits you (and get over the higher number) you’ll probably find the length to be just right. When all else fails, you can always cuff, or go to a tailor.

My fellow petites, where do you shop for pants and jeans?

I know it sounds kind of lame, but I love shopping at Land’s End for petite jeans. They have some modern cuts now, and you can customize the length down to the quarter inch in some styles!
