Pattern Mixing

As we were taking these pictures, my friend Ally said, “I never would have thought to wear those things together!” For a lot of people, I think pattern mixing is still scary because it used to be against the rules. The key is to find two patterns that are mostly neutral, with a pop of color in one of them. I love this black and white combination, especially the pleated polka dot midi skirt, which you will definitely be seeing again. I’ve said it before, but pleats like these are super flattering because they elongate your silhouette. I also can’t rave enough about Old Navy’s denim jackets. This is one of three that I own (others are a lighter wash and white), and they are the perfect (affordable) wardrobe staples.

Tomorrow we head to Boulder for a family wedding. We’re staying in a house with all of my husband’s cousins, so it should be a lot of fun! But, somehow I ended up coordinating dinner for 16 family members tomorrow night…cross your fingers it all goes smoothly, and follow me on Insta for some weekend snapshots.
