Although some people wear the off shoulder sweater so well, I just couldn’t get on board with the trend. A heavy knit in an off-the-shoulder silhouette just seemed counterintuitive. But then, I found this sweater at H&M. It’s lightweight, soft and the neckline is a giant ruffle…and I love it! I felt feminine and comfortable, and although I’m wearing all neutrals, this outfit is far from boring.
I wore this outfit for brunch downtown last Sunday. Linda from Trendy on a Budget was in town from Boston for the weekend, and we always try to get together when we’re in the same city. Linda has great style, and she’s amazing at finding good deals! She’s also super down-to-earth and incredibly genuine. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find people like that in the fashion blogging world, especially in New York City. I’m admittedly not the best at networking (#introvertproblems), but I’ve also found that if you haven’t reached a certain level of Internet popularity, some people don’t care to get to know you. It can be discouraging, and I’ve struggled with feeling like I’m not good enough. Thankfully, I have friends like Linda who remind me that I put together a pretty good outfit, and it’s not all about competition.
Last week was really long, so I’m definitely excited to only be working three days this week. My husband is heading to Kansas City for a bachelor party, and I decided to fly out with him. We both have family there, so it seemed like a good opportunity to get out of the city and spend some quality time with my cousins! Can’t wait!
Sunnies: Kate Spade via Nordstrom Rack (similar), Earrings: Kate Spade (similar), Sweater: H&M, Jeans: Old Navy, Shoes: ASOS (similar), Bag: Nine West (also love this one)
I’m with you – some of those heavy knit off the shoulder sweaters just seem so silly! This one is perfect. Love that you were able to get together with a blog friend, it’s always so much better in real life!
Chic on the Cheap
Love you, Sam!!!! Always so good to see you. So glad that our virtual selves have become real life friends. Safe travels!!
I am also a little hesitant for the off the shoulder design on knitwear but during the spring season, I will try it with tops. Great post Sam, have a lovely start to the week!
