As you know, I’m a major proponent of flats as everyday shoes. I started the Fashionistas in Flats series to showcase just how many options there are when it comes to styling flats. That said, even the most heel-obsessed fashionistas will at some point find themselves in need of foot relief. New York Fashion Week is definitely one of those times, and it’s important to be prepared. So, stow a pair of foldable flats in your bag, and slip them on in between shows or on your way back to your hotel at the end of the day. Your feet will thank you!
Some of the options:
- Fit in Clouds: These portable split-sole flats come in an amazing variety of colors, patterns & textures. They’re all under $30, and come in a convenient pouch. Available online and at select retailers.
- CitySlips: Smart little flats that come in an expandable carrying case. Once you switch out your shoes, you can tote your heels home with ease. Several metallic and snakeskin options available. Priced from $30-60. Available online and at Neiman Marcus. I’ve also spotted them at Ricky’s NYC.
- Tieks: The designer version of foldable flats, Tieks are sturdier and made from high quality materials. They come in more than 50 colors and patterns, and even offer a vegan line. More of an investment, starting at $175. Available online.
I brought a pair of gold ones to my cousin’s wedding…and didn’t end up using them because she provided flip flops for everyone 🙂
I’ve been known to take a larger purse than needed just to slip my favorite pair of Vera Wang flats in my bag! Maybe I do need a fold-up pair!

Yosi Samra also makes a great foldable flat, I’ve posted about them a few times on my blog but honestly they are so comfortable!
