When you think of flats, the first picture that forms in your mind is probably one of a sweet little ballet flat with a bow. While I love a pretty flat, there’s a less recognized branch of the flats family that is totally worth your time. As menswear-inspired trends have been popping up on the runways and in stores, the influence has definitely extended to shoes. Loafers and oxfords are easier to find (and cuter) than ever, and there are some great affordable options out there. I’m currently waiting on this metallic, perforated pair from Target, inspired by my friend Meaghan at District Sparkle to style them for spring.
The great thing about menswear-inspired flats is that you can either work that vibe from head-to-toe, with a blazer and trousers, or you can offset with a totally girly dress. Metallic or neutral pairs will be the most versatile, but you can also go for a pop of color. For spring, look for perforated details and cutouts so your feet can breathe. In terms of fit, avoid anything that makes your feet look bulky. You want to look menswear-inspired, but still feminine. Try these on for size:
Love it 🙂
