Lavender Dress

You’ve probably noticed that I’m a pretty frugal shopper. I like nice things, but I don’t like to spend a lot on one item, and I would rather have more options in my wardrobe than more designer pieces. I’m a sucker for a good sale, and if there’s a way to not pay full price, I will find it. That said, I also believe that certain things are worth spending more, and I will occasionally splurge. When I found out that Julia of Gal Meets Glam was coming out with a dress collection, I knew that this would be something I would splurge on. Julia’s personal style is classic and feminine, and her Gal Meets Glam Collection totally reflects that aesthetic. New dresses come out every month, and they’re all under $200, so it’s really only a small splurge. I ordered the dress I’m wearing in this post, and one more called the Samantha, because how could I not?! Unfortunately, my namesake dress just wasn’t the right fit for me, but this beautiful lavender dress was perfect.

These pictures were taken last weekend in Boulder, Colorado, where we spent the weekend celebrating my husband’s cousin’s wedding. (See what I wore the night before here.) Both the ceremony and the reception took place outdoors in 90 degree temperatures (under a bright sun, as you can see), so I was really glad that this dress is made of lightweight chiffon. I love the lavender color and subtle dotted texture, and as you can see from these photos, the skirt is perfect for twirling! If you’re wondering about fit: I’m in between sizes (8 and 10), but I went for the 8. It fits well, except for being a tiny bit tight up top, but not uncomfortably so. I’m definitely looking forward to wearing this dress again…and seeing Julia’s next batch of creations when they’re released next week!
