While eating a pear may be delicious, being pear-shaped isn’t always so enjoyable. Rarely do you see pears walking down runways, in catalogs, or on billboards. Many clothing lines are made without consideration for those of us blessed with womanly hips. Ordering online can be a frustrating process, as can clothes buying in general. If something fits in the butt and hips, it may be too loose in the waist. When you gain a pound or two, it inevitably goes directly to the widest part of you. There is a lot of return and exchange.
I have promised myself over and over again that I will love my curves, but it’s easier said than done. When I decided to start this blog, I knew I would be putting myself out there. As an introvert, this is scary enough, but as someone with a different body type than much of the fashion blogger community, the task was even more daunting. I have an extra style challenge in that I’m right on the height border between petite and regular sizes. The problem is that petite clothing is smaller all around, and finding things that fit my shape and don’t have me stepping on my hems or drowning in length can be difficult.
Yes, it can be difficult, but it’s not impossible. I want all of the pears and petites out there to know that you can look cute, pretty and stylish even if you’re not runway model thin. My hope is to introduce you to the brands and websites that embrace girls who have figures*, and show you how to wear the latest trends without feeling fat, short, or hippy. Please let me know if there’s something you want me to write about by leaving a comment on this post or sending me an email. Hopefully, I will learn to love my curves more while I help you love yours.
*If you are one of these brands or websites and you want to work together, I would be happy to chat!
Way to go, Sam! Love it! 🙂
Thanks so much, Beth!
