Shopping for your significant others’ parents can be a challenge, especially if you’re not a member of the family yet. My advice is to work with what you know. Chances are, you’ve been to their house, and you have a general idea of their taste and what they like to do in their spare time. Don’t be afraid to give something that you know they need, even if it’s less exciting. The best gifts are often the ones we wouldn’t think to buy ourselves. (We’re getting my in-laws a nicer microwave for Hanukkah this year!) If your relationship is new, or you don’t know that much about your (future) in-laws, stick with classics that they can both appreciate, like a beautiful throw or a serving tray they can use when they entertain . If your SO has siblings, put your heads together and see if you can collaborate on a bigger, better gift.
