Friday Favorites: Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses make for an easy outfit. They are such a statement on their own that you really don’t need much in the accessory department. Maxis come in gorgeous patterns and colors, with a variety of necklines and details. Add a denim jacket, flat sandals or wedges, and you’re out the door. Although they may be a little more challenging to find, there ARE maxi dresses out there that are flattering for petites and pears. After a long search, I finally found one that I can’t wait to wear. I’ll be sharing what I learned on my search soon, but for now, see how these beautiful bloggers wore their maxi dresses.

I love the purple maxi that Jen is wearing!

I bought my first Maxi dress for this summer and tried on about 10 before landing on a blue floral one, I was so apprehensive about them because I’m short. Over the weekend I paired it with wedges and a short sleeved blazer for my brother-in-law’s graduation ceremony. It was so comfortable. I plan to get as much mileage out of it as possible. (How I styled it is here: http://probablyrachel.com/2013/05/29/what-to-wear-to-a-graduation/)

    • Love how you styled your maxi, Rachel! It’s definitely difficult to find a long dress that works for smaller frames. Glad you liked this inspiration!

Thank for the love Sam! I only own two maxi dresses because it’s so hard to find that doesn’t swallow me whole. Glad I could be of some inspiration. 🙂

  3. Thanks for featuring my outfit, Sam! My tip for petites (I’m 5’3″) is to wear wedges with a maxi so that it’s not too long. Definitely a fun and easy summer outfit!

    • You’re welcome, Katie! Wedges are definitely helpful to make up for the height difference. It took me a while to find a maxi that didn’t require sky high heels or a tailor.
