We all know the famous scene from The Devil Wears Prada…florals for spring are not exactly groundbreaking. But, you can be creative with how you wear them. First of all, it should go without saying that floral prints should be colorful and vibrant, just like flowers themselves. Sure, there are some beautiful black and white floral pieces, but why not play with color? Next, think about the size of the blooms, and the spacing. Smaller flowers look best in an all-over pattern, while bigger buds tend to work more free form.
If you’re going to wear florals on the bottom, whether skirt, shorts or pants, consider carefully what you wear on top. Pattern mixing is totally okay, and florals look great with stripes, but opt for something with matching or complimentary colors, like Julia does below. If you’re a pear, or otherwise carry your weight on your bottom half, choose a top that has some visual interest and/or is a bright color. When in doubt, layer!
