The transition from summer to fall can be a bit challenging. You’re not ready to put away your open-toed shoes or shoulder-bearing tops, but you’re excited to bring out the darker colors and cozy knits. My solution to early fall fashion is layering with lightweight jackets. It’s still denim jacket weather, and I’ve also been wearing my new twill field jacket a ton.
You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here. After 98 remarkably healthy years, my grandfather started to decline a few weeks ago. He passed away the weekend before last, and we spent much of last week honoring his memory with family in Cleveland. I’m so grateful for all of the years I had with him, but losing someone you love is tough no matter what. I was supposed to start my new job last Tuesday, but that was understandably delayed. Today is my first day, and I’m so excited for the adventure to begin! I know my grandpa would be proud.
These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago while I was still at my old job near Herald Square. I have to say, I won’t miss being right smack in the middle of the craziness, but I will miss my dear friends who I’m used to seeing every day. The great thing is that we’re friends outside of work too, so I know we’ll still see each other…and of course they’ll keep me up-to-date on office gossip!

I love this look! I think it’s the perfect kind of in-between for summer & fall – bold & loud but covered up & muted a little by the denim for an autumn feel.
I’m so sorry to hear of your grandfather’s passing… but simultaneously so glad to be working with you again in some capacity. Good luck on your first day!
Thank you! I’ve definitely gotten bolder with patterns in recent years!
And thank you for your condolences. It has definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions, but I’m trying to focus on the positive. xo
