When I polled people on Instagram, the majority said they were dressing “casual with a little sparkle” this holiday season. I promise, those looks are coming, but I couldn’t resist one fancy outfit. I love getting dressed up for the holidays, and I think it’s the perfect excuse to be a little extra. When I included this outfit in an Instagram reel, someone asked about this “dress.” It’s actually a bodysuit and a skirt, but one of the things that I love about this combo is that it’s such a cohesive look. While there are certain colors that are appropriate for this season, there’s nothing wrong with keeping it neutral. Texture like velvet and the sparkle of sequins make it anything but boring!
While we were shooting these photos, the owner of the house came home. Sometimes that happens, and we just hope they don’t mind that we’re using their home as a backdrop. The decorations were so beautifully done, and the perfect match for my outfit. No surprise, when we figured out that the person who owns this house is Kelly Ripa!! She and Lauren made eye contact, and it was definitely a top NYC moment.
This weekend, we’re hosting our first holiday party since before the pandemic/before Seth was born. I love hosting (even though I’m an introvert), and few things bring me more joy than bringing people together for a celebration. Several of our closest friends have moved since our last party, but I’m so grateful for the ones that are still here, and some new friends too.
When I found out about tWitch’s death yesterday, it hit me hard. I was a huge So You Think You Can Dance? fan, and I actually got Rob to watch it too. tWitch was such a source of joy for so many, and I’m beyond sad that he was fighting a battle that joy couldn’t reach. I didn’t know him, but I feel like I did. I’m trying to take this as a reminder to check in with the people I love, and take advantage of every opportunity to make memories together.
