Truth be told, when I wore this denim on denim look last week, I was actually a little self-conscious. These jeans fit me like a glove, but they certainly don’t hide anything, and although this peplum top is a flattering silhouette, it’s shorter than I would usually wear with form-fitting jeans. But, as I was editing these photos, I realized I looked damn good! It made me think about how I’m so used to worrying about how I look, instead of assuming I have nothing to worry about. It’s so easy to get stuck in old habits when it comes to how we think about our bodies. I definitely have a much better body image than I used to, and I’ve learned to love my curves, but that doesn’t mean that old insecurities don’t ever resurface when I look in the mirror. We’re heading to California for a much-needed vacation in a couple of weeks, and I’m planning to capture a lot of content for the blog. This means there will definitely be some bathing suit photoshoots, so I asked one of my role models for advice. She simply said: “Be confident! It’ll shine through!” and I think that’s something we all need to remember every day.
