I will spare you complaints about the single digit temperatures and inches of slush that are currently taking over NYC, and instead tell you about how this outfit came to be. All too often, we designate something to a season and only wear it during certain times of year. But, one of the best ways to look great on a budget is to learn to re-purpose what you already own. This means you have to get creative and think outside of the box. For example, this lightweight, mostly white, short sleeve dress is generally meant for warmer weather. I didn’t want to layer over it because it would hide the print too much, but when I was inspired to layer under, I solved that problem and kept warm on a frigid day. Ta-da!

Something about these photos screams California magazine shoot to me…and then I remember that it was 10 degrees. Either way, I love the repurposing of a summer dress! Thanks for the inspiration
Thank you! All about the layers
I almost never layer. Well done! I, too, love your re-purposing of a summer dress.
Thanks, Kate! It really helps to make things more versatile. Definitely give it a try!
I’m all about re-purposing; great on the budget
Thanks, Linda!
