Casual Prep

Last Thursday, we went out to Westchester to spend a traditional Jewish Christmas at my in-laws. Although we didn’t go to the movies, we did eat plenty of Chinese food! We’re lucky that all of our parents live within an hour and a half of the city, and we get to spend more time together than a lot of families. As my husband was snapping these pictures, my brother-in-law was literally running around outside my in-laws’ building with the pup (which is why I’m cracking up in half of them). Bones loves seeing his family too, and he is always super excited to see grass!

For a casual Christmas, boyfriend jeans were a must. I love the relaxed fit and they pair so well with flats. I picked up a striped turtleneck at the J.Crew sample sale, and I knew it would be the perfect layering piece. This outfit is a little preppier than I tend to go, but I really like these pieces together. Channeling the lovely Emily of Shell Chic’d, who I’m hopefully meeting next month when I go to Boston!
