Even when you love fashion and clothes, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut. The same is true with hair styles, especially as the dog days of summer wear on. But, I’ve been trying to slowly push myself outside of my comfort zone, and this outfit is the perfect example. Not long ago, I would have hesitated to buy this skirt, even though it was majorly on sale. If I convinced myself to buy it, despite its pencil skirt similarities, I probably would have paired it with the white ruffled blouse and been done. Although that button down doesn’t look like much, it’s a small step outside of the box for me.
The same goes for my hairdo. I’ve never been very good with hair, and my fine, frizzy mane is often a challenge. But, I was sick of putting it up in a bun on hot days. So, I asked for suggestions during #StyleChat last week, and Megan mentioned milk maid braids. I was skeptical, but I watched her tutorial video and tried them for myself. Although my hair is shorter than Megan’s, I have to say, I’m a fan. (I also got some highlights recently!) So, tell me, how do you push yourself outside of your style and beauty comfort zone?

I liked a lot of stuff from the Milly x BR line too, but it was so expensive. Fortunately, most of it has hit the sale rack!
