Beauty on a Budget

Times are tough for a lot of people, and spending money on “luxuries” like haircuts, manicures, waxes and beauty products seems frivilous. But, every woman (and man) deserves to feel beautiful, and if a new ‘cut or fresh polish on your toes is what does it for you, then you just have to find a way to make it work. Fortunately, there are some wonderful websites that provide great deals. Here are my top three:

1) Lifebooker: Also known as the reason I have not paid full price for a haircut in several years. Sign up for Lifebooker Loot and get amazing deals in your inbox for hair, body and health services. Visit Lifebooker.com to find discounted services and make appointments for anything from haircut and color, to massage, to eyebrow wax and mani-pedis. You can also read reviews on the specific services and salons you are considering. Lifebooker is currently dealing in 18 cities across the US.

2) SpaSally: Sorry ladies, but this one is just for NYC. SpaSally sends out deals every Tuesday for $25. There’s always an option to upgrade for more services if you want, but I’ve never found the need. One time I got two pedicures and a manicure for $25. Yes, you read that right.

3) Birchbox: I love opening my mailbox to find a pink package from Birchbox every month. For only $10, you will receive beauty, grooming and lifestyle samples from well-known and lesser-known brands. It’s great for the girl who likes to try new products before she invests, and I’ve found that my collection of samples makes traveling so much easier. There are various subscriptions options, including month by month, and per year. If you fall in love with something in your box, you can find it in the Birchbox shop and earn points for buying it there.

Every once in a while, I’ve found a good beauty deal through Groupon or LivingSocial, but there’s no rhyme or reason to when they pop up. How do you save money on beauty and grooming? What are your favorite deal sites?

Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way for mentioning these websites. However, I did include referral links when available.

  1. I love a good beauty deal too! I’ve recently stumbled upon Gilt City which isn’t completely beauty-focused, but they do have some decent beauty deals occasionally. Also, Bloomspot – I have no idea if this is just for Boston or if it’s for other cities as well, but they run some good deals!

    • Great suggestions, Morgan! I used to get Bloomspot, but I think I was overwhelmed by emails and unsubscribed. I’ll have to check out Gilt City! Thanks 🙂
