For the first time in what feels like forever, we had a weekend of beautiful weather in New York City! Unfortunately, our puppy can’t go outside until he gets the rest of his shots this week, but we still made sure to get out and enjoy it a little bit. One of the things I’m most excited to wear as the weather warms up is this bright blue trench coat. I found it at TJ Maxx when I went to a shopping event featuring Helena of Brooklyn Blonde and Christine of My Style Pill. Although I might tend towards black and white when it comes to my outfits, I always try to add a splash of color somehow.
Underneath the coat is a peplum top I found on sale at Banana Republic. It has a hint of sparkle to it, which I absolutely love. As a pear, I’ve always been a little hesitant with the peplum silhouette. If it hits at the right spot, peplum can be a great way to highlight your waist and downplay your hips. But, be careful with volume and always pair a peplum top with a slimming bottom.
