The holiday season is the time for sumptuous fabrics, festive patterns, and sparkle. When Hill House came out with velvet versions of their Nap Dresses, I couldn’t resist. This one has the same comfort of the original, but it’s so much more glamorous. I’m in love with this color, and it photographed so beautifully! With a velvet holiday dress like this, you don’t need much else. I just added my favorite occasion earrings and my go-to dressy flats. Now I need to make more plans so I can wear this again!
This weekend, we went to an ugly sweater holiday party at a friend’s. I got Seth a sweater, but it just made him look cuter! We also celebrated the last night of Hanukkah with friends. It’s been so nice to get together with people again! That said, it’s also difficult to find the right balance between still being cautious and wanting to see people…especially with Seth. I got my booster last week, and Rob is getting his tomorrow. We are fortunate that everyone we know is vaccinated, so the risk is less, but it’s still scary to have an infant who isn’t protected. I got my vaccine when I was pregnant, so hopefully he has antibodies. But, there’s only so much we can do. At a certain point, you just have to decide what’s worth the risk, and I think that’s something everyone is doing at this time of year.
This post started out on a much lighter note, so let me just end by saying be extra kind to everyone this year. We’re all still figuring things out. And if putting on a fancy dress makes you feel good (even if you don’t have anywhere to go), do it!
