A few years ago, I went to a bunch of stores and tried on tons of jeans to create a curvy jeans guide. Jeans can be hard to shop for, and I’m glad that more brands have started offering curvy options. I’ve been thinking about an updated curvy jeans guide for a while, and I figured that while I’m trying to embrace my postpartum body was the perfect time.
You’ve already seen one of these pairs styled in a complete outfit, but I wanted to capture all of them without anything else to distract. I tried on all four pairs on with the same white bodysuit and put together an Instagram reel, which shows each pair from different angles. I also took the opportunity to try non-skinny styles, since according to “the young people” skinnies are out of style. I don’t happen to agree, but I do think everyone should have different styles in their wardrobe. Read on for a brief breakdown of each pair and links to shop:
Madewell Roadtripper Curvy High Waist Stovepipe Jeans
This was the first pair of jeans I bought (and wore) postpartum. They’re the most traditional style of this group, and a very versatile wardrobe staple. I like that they have some stretch, but are still form-fitting and flattering. I’m wearing a 29 in this pair, which is my pre-pregnancy size, so I would say they run a little big.
Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love High Rise Mom Jeans
Who would’ve thought Abercrombie would come out with an entire line devoted to curvy women? Back in the day, you would never see anyone with curves in their ads or working at their stores. I think they’ve really been working to change their image, and I really love this line. I thought it was really funny that I liked a pair of “mom jeans” now that I’m a mom. But, really this style is great for everyone. They come in eight different washes, and four lengths. The rise is perfect for pear-shaped ladies, and they have an extra two inches through the hip and thigh. I’m wearing a 30.
Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jeans
I decided I wanted a black wash pair, and the Mom jeans option had too many holes for my liking (I know, I’m old). So, I decided to try another style from the Curve Love line, and I really like these too. The rise is a little higher, and the ankle length in regular worked for me at 5’4″. I’m wearing a 30.
LOFT Curvy Fresh Cut High Rise Kick Crop Jeans
The kick crop style is very trendy right now, and I think it’s actually a fun look. This wash is great to dress up or down, but I didn’t love the fit of these as much. I like the rise, but it doesn’t feel like there’s much extra room in the hips. I’m wearing a 30, but maybe I need to size up. Overall, these were just okay and probably my least favorite of the four. I usually like LOFT, so I might have to try another style.
If you’re looking for a new pair of jeans, I hope this little guide helps! These are all under $100. Should I try some more? Let me know in the comments!
