Maxi dresses are one of those things that I love because they make such an easy outfit, but I have a hard time finding ones that don’t drown my petite frame. Thank goodness for LOFT (one of my favorites), that always has a great petite selection in stores and online. Pro tip: if you find something in the store that you love, but they don’t have it in petite sizes there, they’ll order it off the website and ship it to you for free! I actually think this bright blue beauty was an add-on to get to free shipping during a sale, but I’m so glad I got it. I love the ruffles on the sleeves and the open back, and in petite medium, it’s the perfect length.
Full disclosure: the fabric is a bit clingy, and I probably didn’t choose the best undergarments, but it was still super comfortable for dinner with friends who were in from out of town. We met them at a great little place in the Flatiron neighborhood, and it was nice to linger over drinks and talk about their upcoming wedding. We’ve been married about 5 1/2 years, and it’s so interesting to see and hear how much things have changed since then. For example, all five weddings we’re invited to this year had online RSVPs. More people are doing unconventional dinners too, more like an extended cocktail hour, instead of a formal sit-down ordeal. It’s great that couples are making their weddings their own and not just going along with traditional expectations. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve seen?

The struggle is real for petite women! Finding the right pant length are always impossible for me too!
