Last weekend, we rented a car and drove out to Long Island to see my parents. We usually spend Rosh Hashanah with them, but since services were virtual this year, timing didn’t matter as much. Even though COVID-19 rates are a lot better here now, we’re still playing it safe and mostly seeing our parents outside while we can. Since a good part of the day was in the car, I wanted to be comfortable, so I wore this new peplum sweatshirt and jeggings. I love when a sweatshirt has fun details like puff sleeves or embroidery…or a peplum waist! This one is so soft and flattering too.
It was definitely strange to spend the Jewish holidays at home on our couch instead of at temple with our families. But, a silver lining was being able to attend virtual services at multiple places that would normally be too far away (including our friend Stephanie’s!). I was so impressed with how much work went into making the holidays as meaningful as possible for everyone. While I hope we can be in person again next year, I think there’s definitely a lot to learn from this experience. We’re also very grateful to have a few close friends nearby, so we were able to do a little bit of safe in-person celebrating too.
