Last Friday, I had the amazing opportunity to experience my first Fashion Week runway show and presentation. Even though I live in New York City, I’ve never been able to go before, and I was beyond excited when a photographer friend told me she had extra tickets (Thanks, Shana!!). Stepping inside the tents for the first time is a moment I will never forget, and of course, the people-watching was unbelievable.
The show I saw was Monique Lhuillier, and it was fantastic! Every single dress down the runway was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved the pastel colors, feminine details, and full skirts. My ticket was for standing room, but I was in the right place at the right time, and managed to snag a seat just four rows from the runway!
Since runway fashion isn’t exactly in my budget, I always look to Fashion Week shows as inspiration for the upcoming seasons. Even if you can’t afford Monique’s glimmering gowns, you can still find ways to copy the silhouettes, embellishments and color combinations. How fitting that the show ended with a celebratory shower of sparkle!
I also got a chance to see Charlotte Ronson’s Spring/Summer ’15 Collection. Models stood in lines behind velvet ropes (with straight faces like London guards) as Charlotte’s sister Samantha spun at the DJ booth. Pastel colors were prevalent in this line too, and I was a big fan of the monochromatic sets and Charlotte’s use of texture.
I’m honestly not sure that I would want to do the Fashion Week thing all day and night every season like some bloggers do, but I definitely loved being a part of the action! Kate Spade and J.Crew presentations are on my Fashion Week bucket list, so stay tuned!
What a fun thing to get to do!
