When I thought about the vibe I wanted for Thanksgiving this year, the words cozy and polished came to mind. I never want to wear anything restricting when there’s a lot of good food, but I still wanted to look nice for the holiday. I also have to consider the fact that there will likely be baby droll on anything I wear these days. So, in a strange twist, I actually didn’t know what would fit the bill. But, then I went to Madewell to return something a couple of weekends ago and saw this dress. The plaid flannel with a flattering smocked waist was perfect. I didn’t even try it on! Unsurprisingly, it’s sold out online, but there’s a nearly identical version at J.Crew. I also love this blue one.
The past week has been exhausting, but so good for my soul. We spent Wednesday-Saturday at my mom’s. My in-laws came for Thanksgiving, and we saw my dad the next day. I also got to see one of my best friends from high school and her daughters. Yesterday, we got together with our cousins and their kids (our “niece” and “nephew”) for the first night of Hanukkah. It’s been fun to watch Seth experience these holidays for the first time. Obviously he doesn’t understand what’s going on yet, but he’s so happy to be with people who love him, and that makes me happy!
Seth also had some other firsts: he ate in a high chair and slept overnight somewhere other than his bassinet. My mom had a pack n’ play set up for him, but we were a little nervous about how he would sleep. It took him a little while to settle, but then he slept through the night! Major relief because we’re planning to move him to his crib soon. Plus, hopefully this means we can eventually travel somewhere with him and he’ll be able to adapt. Having a baby definitely makes things more complicated, but it doesn’t mean you can’t do them!
